RE: Baldwin's schedule
AGREE. The way Barr is going he could be the difference between an Obama presideny or a Juan McCain presidency. That is going to be a lot of attention from the media and if Ron Paul is weighing in with Barr then the Republicans are getting a huge kick in the butt for moving so far from their Conservative ideals. Paul wants to stay relevant, his supporters want to have a perceived influence on the outcome, a message has to be sent to the Republicans. Option 1 for Ron Paul is to endorse Baldwin, we get 100,000 votes and sink back into political obscurity for another 4 years. Option 2 - endorse Barr, the Libertarians get 5% of the vote, McCain loses some safe states, Obama wins, everyone blames Barr & Paul. Paul stays in the news. Option 3 - endorse nobody. I would love him to endorse Baldwin but at this point I think it makes little difference unless he actively campaigns with Baldwin and brings some money to the campaign so that we can actually campaign.

RE: Baldwin's schedule
Here's my point in a nutshell. We are 3 months out from a general election. The right wing are not happy with their nominee. Ron Paul has ignited a firestorm among some on the right. We have the potential to make a real impact on the election. Our candidate has one scheduled event from July 20 - 31. Hardly a rigorous election campaign. It doesn't exactly give the impression that we are pulling out all the shots to win. Fine, I will talk to neighbors, I will go to State Fairs, I will knock on doors, I will stuff envelopes but is my candidate putting in the same effort ????? Running for president is a full time job. For 3 months it is all you should think about. ONE SCHEDULED EVENT IN 2 WEEKS ????????? Pardon me if I question the Constitution Party's committment and look elsewhere.
I do tend to agree a bit as far as the schedule goes. I have no connection to the campaign, so I'm not going to speak to loudly. I am hoping that they are either planning a bunch of events, or they just haven't been posted on the website yet.
While I am a bit concerned as far as the schedule, I'm not quite ready to jump ship to Republican Bob Barr. I doubt I ever will either.
Back to the schedule -- I realize that the campaign is low on funds, and therefore; doesn't have the ability for Chuck to campaign too much yet, but it does concern me when a campaign with, as far as I know, less than $10,000 doing more campaigning than Chuck.
Came across this on the 'net -- http://www.votesocialist2008.org/calendar

RE: Baldwin's schedule
Again, as I mentioned in another post, I think it would be wise for Dr. Baldwin to call my local conservative radio talk show in Charlottesville, Va. I know Joe Thomas would be glad to talk with him, and it would be terrific exposure, especially if he called in at around 8AM when the roads here are deeply congested with people traveling to work. I also think that there must be many many more small local radio stations throughout the country that Dr. Baldwin can call into. Even if he only was heard by a few thousand people at a time, it can make a gigantic difference in people getting to know him and what he stands for. Lord knows he is a much better speaker than McCain.

RE: Baldwin's schedule
Baldwin cant do more events until his campaign gets more money.
That means donating.

RE: Baldwin's schedule
Shotdown 1927- I understand perfectly what you are saying-Dr. Baldwin can't campaign without money, however, if people don't know who he is he won't get many donations. That is why I had respectfully suggested that he do whatever possible to get his name out there without having to spend tons of money. Calling in to radio stations doesn't cost more than the cost of the phone call. I personally am trying to make everyone I can aware of the great choice they have in Dr. Baldwin- no nose plugs required.

RE: Baldwin's schedule
Am I the only one looking at Baldwin's schedule and wondering what the heck is going on. Since we all know that virtually nobody has heard of him and the CP normally pulls in 100,000 votes would it not behoove Chuck to get out there and start meeting some people. Look at the July schedule and the number of days he had nothing listed. The key here are the Ron Paul folks and Chuck should be traveling the country meeting with these groups (there are hundreds of them) and spreading the word. EVERY DAY there should be a meeting with a Ron Paul group, EVERY DAY there should be a media appearance or radio show listed. This is the best chance the CP has ever had to make an impact and it seems to be we are blowing it. Bob Barr is pulling in between 5 - 10% in polls and sucking the life out of Baldwin's campaign. If he is not committed to campaigning 24/7 then why the heck should I be knocking on doors in my neighborhood and hanging out at the local Republican Club converting people. I'M CONCERNED, A LITTLE ANGRY AND CONTEMPLATING A SWITCH TO THE LP. Help me out with an explanation of why the Baldwin schedule is so light.
Money is the problem. Baldwin gets $30,000 Barr gets $300,000
Nader gets today $141,00 in Federal matching funds.

RE: Baldwin's schedule
Ron Paul has plenty of money. If he is such a big Baldwin fan why doesn't he help out.

RE: Baldwin's schedule
There are two thoughts that keep coming out in the threads:
1. Baldwin & Castle seem to be out of action more time than they are in, and
2. Ballot Access is the key battle right now.
As far as no. 1: There is very little we can do about the candidates themselves. Chuck and Darrell are two free men and they will decide how much of their own energy they will put into the campaign. The people around them, I'm sure, look in on this forum from time to time and can hear our outrage.
As far as no. 2: Ballot Access is EVERYTHING right now. Looking at the Constitution Party's website, we are on the ballot (non-write-in) where we can get 239 electoral votes. We can possibly get 55 more electoral votes as a write-in candidate. That's 294 electoral votes possible - A reason to cautiously smile since we are over the required 270 electoral votes for Baldwin/Castle to win. However, 53 electoral votes (Georgia, Oklahoma, and New York) are in the lost cause column. The battle is still on for 191 electoral votes and we must get on the ballot in every case to hold on to a 90% of the possible electoral votes tally.
Ballot Access is our battle for now.
