RE: Ballot Access Update

New Federalist -- thanks for the post it was rather informative.

My concern is -- the scorn for Catholics by the posters. This again will turn many potential voters away from the Constitution Party. Truthfully I am tired of those so called "religions experts (bigots)" always bashing the Catholics. I posted about this elsewhere.

Yes the CP is doiing everything possilbe to turn away voters and lose an electon.

I don't believe it is fair to say the CP is "doing everything possible to turn away voters" based on some posters' comments at Third Party Watch. The opinions expressed there are their own and not the official position of the CP.

RE: Ballot Access Update

For those sports fans keeping score at home... as of today (23 August) Ballot Access News shows the Baldwin/Castle ticket on the ballot in 28 states with an electoral vote total of 232. With a successful court result in California the total would go to 287 which is more than the 270 needed to win. Even without CA the number of states where ballot drives are still going on plus those states where the petitions have already been turned in and awaiting certification should be enough to put the ticket over the top as far as electoral votes are concerned.

RE: Ballot Access Update

I just did the math and there is almost no way that the Baldwin/Castle ticket won't appear on enough ballots to have a theoretical chance to win in the Electoral College. Currently confirmed on 28 states with 232 electoral votes. Will probably be successful in 9 more with a total of 76 electoral votes (bringing the subtotal to 308 which is more than the 270 needed to win). Three states in dispute where court cases must be won or previous promises honored (CA, PA and VA) which could add another 89 electoral votes to the total for a grand total of 397. If this is one of the criteria to be included in debates then Chuck Baldwin passes the test!

RE: Ballot Access Update

To add insult to injury... Ballot Access News has reported that the filing deadline to register a write-in candidate in Texas has passed and no one registered Chuck Baldwin! http://www.ballot-access.org

RE: Ballot Access Update

I don't think the news from Texas is that big. The Republicans and Democrats haven't even filed yet. SO technically Bob Barr is the only one on the ballot. If they wanted write in status I'm sure they could get it.

RE: Ballot Access Update

Actually, Ralph Nader, Cynthia McKinney, Brian Moore (Socialist Party), Alan Keyes (America's Independent Party) and two others I have never heard of are also certified as write-ins. I just hope the CP of Texas gets their act together and submits the paperwork soon! Since the major parties also missed the deadline to certify candidates (because they haven't nominated them yet!) there is still hope.
