Did he not read the entire ruling?

The Supreme Court said that it is an individual liberty but that it was not unlimited and could be regulated. Any regulation of freedom is not a freedom... it is a privilege. Now we have the Supreme Court saying that any government can regulate firearms. It won't be a freedom if they say that you can no longer own any caliber higher than .22 for personal protection and that your long guns have to be kept at the sheriff's office and you need to schedule a time to check them out if you wish to go hunting.

I'm not sure how they missed the 'shall not be infringed' part. Now you have the right to register your firearms... some right.

The right to keep and bear arms comes from God and cannot be regulated by government. Jesus said that anyone that does not own a sword should sell their coat and buy a sword... a sword is not used for hunting. The 2nd Amendment was added to the Bill of Rights to make sure that the government did not try to disarm Americans. We have this right to protect us from the government. I would dare say that there were not a lot of home invasions when this amendment was added to the Constitution. This is government over-stepping it's bounds again.

I wish it had gone the other way and then, maybe then, Bubba would have woke up and realized that his freedoms are slowly being taking away.

When the Supreme Court said that it was an individual liberty they should have stopped there but they didn't. They said that to make the coming regulations easier to swallow.

I like Chuck a lot but it's pretty upsetting to see anyone excited about this ruling. I believe in the full text of the 2nd Amendment: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

That means any gun, any where, any time by any person.

i dont think it means we have the right to use any gun, you dont need a machine gun or any of those other big guns for self defence. usually its the bad guys that have the big guns

normal hand guns work too

the second ammemdment says that we can have weapons, if we ban certain kinds of weapons people can still have weapons, just different weapons

That is a socialist reply.

The 2nd Amendment means exactly what it says and it doesn't say weapons nor does it outline the type of arms. If they tell you that you can protect your self with a torch and a hay fork will you be happy? That would be a weapon. What about staves and rocks like King David had? He was able to defeat the giant. Maybe you'll be as successful too.

This right is given by God and not the government therefore government has no authority over it. This right is given to protect us against tyrannical oppression not the boogieman.

I think you need to know what types of guns are good for what. You mentioned machine guns so therefore a little bit of instruction on machine guns. They are used for suppressive fire and not direct fire. The intent with a machine gun is keep your enemy at bay so that troops can maneuver to better fighting positions and for snipers to move into position.

I can only be glad that we don't depend on what you think that it means when it comes to my freedoms. Oh wait... that is what we have... a democracy where 51 get to decide for the other 49.

I should be happy with the ruling that the Supreme Court handed down allowing me to own weapons... that is so nice of them to let me do that. I hope that they allow me enough to defend my family when the enemy comes.

Chuck has been out on the campaign trail and more than likely did not read the whole ruling. I'm guessing that he just read what was reported in the papers.

But I would ask you, did you watch the whole video? He quoted "shall not be infringed". He believes in no way should the feds restrict your right to bear arms. They have no authority to take away a God given right. Please don't put words in Chucks Mouth regarding the 2nd Amendment. he has been a staunch defender of the 2nd Amendment for years.

Included in the video below is a speech he gave about the 2nd Amendment at a Fair in Florida.

that makes sense now, i didnt know what infringed meant. im not an adult like most of you are, im only 15.

people act like the 2nd ammendment is the priveledge to bear arms not the right

why on earth do we need a licence for something we have a right to do

answer: because the government doesn't realize that its a right not a priveledge

is this what you guys meant?

I did watch the entire video and I don't think that I put words in his mouth. I did quote a lot of the ruling though. I know what Chuck has said in the past concerning gun ownership. That's why I asked if he had read the entire ruling because the initial video was somewhat out of character.

Telepian, that is exactly what I was talking about. We have the right and it doesn't come from Government. If we have to ask permission then it's no longer a right it's privilege... and they can take it away.

In their ruling, they said that governments can limit and control this God given right among others. It was a sad, sad day for me and I have been angered ever since I read it.
