Email Groups (national and state)

Hello,

I heard Chuck Baldwin's request for Internet-savvy people to step forward and
volunteer, so that's what I'm doing :-) I run a web and email
server, tailored for email groups. No ads.

Perhaps you can share your specific needs with me, but I would like to propose
two basic email groups be set up for each state, such as:
cp_oh_talk
cp_oh_announce
cp_mi_talk
cp_mi_announce
...then
cp_national_announce

Likewise, it seems like a Wiki should exist for each state to post recent news
in a central location, so people don't need to search for information, and so
it's presented consistently. I'd be happy to set one up, but it's not my
specialty to host those.

I've been running email groups for Christian ministries (mainly) for over 12
years, and this is a stable, mature system. See http://freegroups.net/faq/
for other details.

Let me know if I can be of help. The giftwrapplus.org site is completely dead
to me (tested several browsers) when I try to use it, and this is why I'm proposing an alternative.

Very simply, an email group lets one person email one email address, and have
the mail broadcast to hundreds or thousands of addresses (people) who have
subscribed or shown an interest in the topic. These will be the prospective
voters, and prospective volunteers (and contributors) for the party.

The groups work in one of two basic ways: announce, or discussion.
In "announce" mode, someone like you would send an email telling others of an
upcoming meeting. Unless someone emails you back with a question, that's
pretty much the end of the communication.

In "discussion" mode, the Reply-To address is set to the group address instead
of the sender's email address, so all members of the group can freely discuss
issues with all other group members, just by emailing the one group address.

Membership to the groups can be guarded, as can posting messages to the group
(each message can require moderator approval before being sent to the group)
if needed.

Seeing that the whole party's email group/announcement system seems to be
down, I am prepared to set up groups for each state and the national level.
Having the groups located among the 260 other Christian organizations here
should widen the exposure of the Constitution Party among them all, which it
needs. I would guess that only 1 in 30 people know of the party at all, just
based on my own observations.

Beyond email, once the messages flow to the groups, they are available via web
browser for either public or private (member only) access, based on your
needs. Many other features (file sharing, calendars, etc) are protected
inside the MimerDesk system, once people register for an account and are
added to the group.

You can see a features comparison at
http://freegroups.net/faq/groups-comparison-matrix.html which may be helpful.

All I need from you is approval to go forward with setting up the groups, and
email addresses of who the moderators will be, who can send or manage message
flow (if required). And as I said earlier, I'd like to do this for all
states, so there's a consistent place to the party. I have a contact with
the Michigan group, and just contacted him tonight, but you folks probably
have the national contact list and could let them be aware of this offer.

As Chuck said, the party needs an active presence on the Internet, to reach
the masses. I hope that my dynamic group system can help.

Thanks,

Glen

RE: Email Groups (national and state)

As a first step, all of the "cp_xx_talk" groups have been created for each state and the national level. To join your State's group, simply select it from the list of addresses below, and send any email message to the -subscribe address listed.

Once you are subscribed, you may post to all the members of the group by using the "cp_xx_talk@freegroups.net" address, without the -subscribe portion of the address. The groups are presently set up to require message confirmation, so assure that email forgeries don't occur.

Here are the subscription addresses for all the groups, which you may use at-will on your own web sites:

cp_al_talk-subscribe@freegroups.net
cp_ak_talk-subscribe@freegroups.net
cp_az_talk-subscribe@freegroups.net
cp_ar_talk-subscribe@freegroups.net

I'm looking for volunteers to run any of the created email groups. I can create the ANNOUNCE and LEAD groups too, but am looking for interest and participation in what presently exists, before adding more.

Here is an example of the tools available to each group (using cp_national_talk for instance):

* read messages online instead of getting Email
* post messages to cp_national_talk from the group Email tool
* personal todo list, calendar, address book, files, friends
* cp_national_talk files, links, address book, reviews, calendar, news, voting, projects, and forums
* Easy visibility of all cp_national_talk members, with only the details YOU want to share with others visible.

For a complete list of features, see http://freegroups.net/faq/groups-comparison-matrix.html

RE: Email Groups (national and state)

At this moment, the following states have subscribers in their cp_*_talk groups:

ar
co
pa
tn

With less than 90 days to the election, I would have expected more planning and discussion in the groups.
