RE: Indiana

I plan on writing my past and present state reps asking for a change in the ballot access petition numbers. Currently it is 2% of the previous Sec of State race. For state races, one needs 2% of that vote in signatures in each county. For House of Reps, same thing. If running for State Senator or State Representative, it boils down to, yes, 2% of the Sec of State vote at the precinct level. My proposal is for state wide elections, 5,000 sigs with 400 coming from each of the 9 districts. For house of reps, 500 signatures anywhere in the district, 100 for State Senator and 50 for State Rep. The current number for a state-wide race is indeed the over 30,000 state before. I propose a more humble amount but not making it so low that they would just dismiss it as way too easy.....although some states have less than 1,000 needed. Let me know what you think and perhaps we could all submit the same amounts when contacting the senators and reps within the state.....
