Indiana

To get on the ballot in Indiana, Dr. Baldwin will need 33,000 signatures by June 30. I am encouraging people to support this effort even if they plan to vote for Bob Barr or continue hoping for a Ron Paul rEVOLution at the RNC. Giving the voters of Indiana another choice -- especially one with this message -- is a worthy cause.

I have contacted Mark Pool of the Constitution Party of Indiana to get details on ballot access petitions. It is very similar to the petitions we did to get Ron Paul on the primary ballots...

  1. Print the CAN-19 form at http://www.state.in.us/sos/pdfs/CAN-19.pdf. Print the 2 pages of the form on 2 sides of a paper.
  2. You only have to fill out the county on top and the candidates: Chuck Baldwin for President, Darrell Castle for Vice President. Leave everything else on the top and the back blank.
  3. Copy as many of these as you think you might use, and then start collecting signatures. Signatures must be from registered voters in the county written on top. If you want to do more than one county, print some CAN-19's for each county.
  4. You can register new voters, so bring along some copies of the registration form and turn them in to your county election board before the June 30 petition deadline: http://www.in.gov/sos/elections/pdfs/50504.pdf.

We will need a lot of support to gather 33,000 signatures. I have contacted some Ron Paul meetups and other activist groups, but we need you too! Send me a PM if you are going to help with this. That way, I can help you work with the campaign to keep a count and then turn in signatures.

RE: Indiana

inDglass do you have a Secretary of State verified legal ballot access form? IL didn’t and lost several forms , time and effort. You need to have them send you a legal form, so if they give you trouble later you will have evidence. Each state needs to do this so they can't cheat us after we put forth the effort.

You and others will have to gather over 1,200 signatures a day to reach the goal. If you believe it can be done I will try to guide volunteers your way to help.

I think Winger posted that the deadline could be pushed back if someone would challenge it in court. Wish Nader would do so. Do you know a lawyer that would help for free or fairly inexpensive?

RE: Indiana

We did Ron Paul ballot access for the primary here and it is the same system, so we know what we are doing.

I just heard from two new people today who are collecting signatures. I have been getting the message out to Ron Paul Meetups and many other places. Tomorrow I am calling radio shows and giving out the link to my site www.indytruth.org where they can get all this info to help them start collecting signatures.

I am committed to getting this done. Please do contact anyone you know who can help.

RE: Indiana

If your from Indiana or know someone from there, please pass on the message. Just over 31,000 people voted for Ron Paul in this state. Over 17,000 hits on the CP of Indiana website since last August. So someone, somewhere is paying attention. Here is the link to the Secretary of State's site. The ballot access petition is the CAN-19... http://www.in.gov/sos/elections/candidates/index.html not sure why it didn't underline as a link. Please print off both sides. i will try to attach the form as a pdf... looks like it worked....due date is June 30th...

RE: Indiana

Indiana's tough. Nader tried twice and couldn't get on; the Libertarians seem to own this state (in terms of third parties)

I'm near Indy; I'll be able to get some on the weekends...I should be good for at least 100.

Whoa!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did Mark Pool tell you that 33,000 signatures were needed? When I helped gather signatures for Ron Paul, the minimum number of signatures required was 500 per congressional district. With nine districts in Indiana, you are talking about a total minimum of 4500 signatures state-wide. Are the rules different for third-party candidates?

By the way, this is my first post on this forum. I am a life-long Republican who became disgruntled at the direction the party has gone in the last eight years. I decided to give the Republican party a second chance when I first discovered Ron Paul. I cannot and will not ever vote for John McCain. I don't trust Bobb Barr because he voted for the Patriot Act. I first became aware of the Constitution Party about three weeks ago when searching the Internet for alternatives. The CP sounds so good, I am now waiting to find the silver lining in the clouds. I am also thrilled Chuck Baldwin was selected to be the nominee. I have appreciated his articles spelling out his staunch support for Ron Paul.

Bobby

RE: Indiana

Bobby,

The rules are ALWAYS dfferent for third-parties.
Third-party right-to-vote is the next civil rights issue.

Actually, you require 32,742 VALID signatures to be submitted by June 30. This means at least 50,000 total signatures are probably needed to make certain of 32,742 valid ones. This does NOT look likely at this point unless there are a lot of volunteers or a lot of money to pay for signatures.
