Congressional campaign moves forward,
Candidate chooses principals over employement
Springfield, mo, july, 21 2008: Travis Maddox, Constitution Party candidate for Missouri’s 7th Congressional District, chose to continue his campaign for Congress over his employment with the City of Springfield. Maddox, former employee of the Springfield-Greene County Health Department, was notified on July 3rd that he must make a decision between his campaign and involvement in politics or his employment with the City. Maddox who had been campaigning for two months was unaware of the City Charter rule prohibiting an employee’s involvement in politics. City Charter and Merit Rules prohibits an employee to run for office, be a member or be in leadership in a political party or organization or volunteer for a candidate’s campaign.
“My love for my country and dedication to the cause of Liberty means more than my job.” Maddox said, “My campaign theme is ‘Truth, Principle and Individual Liberty’ and giving into the City would go against everything I stand for”.
Maddox, who is a serious contender for the 7th District seat, has attended several local Fairs and events and has a busy schedule in the coming weeks. “I don’t worry about the future, I have Faith that God will take care of me and my family if I do the right thing.” Maddox said.
