Maryland
I reside in the so called "free state" of Maryland. The Constitution Party has been on the ballot here for the past two Presidential elections. Unfortunately, the state affiliate fell apart after it severed ties with the national party. There is currently no state affiliate. Shortly before the national convention, an Alan Keyes supporter expressed interest in starting one. He even started a website, which is still in the Maryland section of the Constitution Party website. After Mr. Keyes lost, he abandoned it.
It's very unlikely that Mr. Baldwin will be on the ballot here this November. We need 10,000 signatures and somebody willing to start a state affiliate; all in the time frame of two months. Write-in votes are not counted here unless the candidate files a Certificate of Candidacy with the Board of Elections. So far, the Baldwin campaign has not.
Does anybody here have ties with the campaign, or know if they're planning to file as a write-in? I realize that they're just getting started, but the last thing I want to do is vote for "CIA Barr" this November.

RE: Maryland
Things are picking up here in Maryland. We're still recruiting party officers, but it's starting to speed up. We should have the people we need by the end of the week. The Republican Congressional nominee in district 5 is helping us out, which is pretty neat because he knows a lot of people.

Good luck with the effort. The requirement is 10,000 valid signatures by August 4th. It will be tough but attainable if the ballot drive gets underway very soon.

It has not. We have a temp chairman, and signatures were being collected. Unfortunately, due to unexpected work, I couldn't do as much as I had hoped I could. I'm still trying to hear whether we made the deadline or not - but it will probably be close.

RE: Maryland
The deadline was yesterday. According to B.A.N. there were only 5,000 signatures collected as of Aug 1 while the latest update on the CP website is 2,000 collected. 10,000 valid signatures were needed so unless the latest updates were quite out of date it does not appear very hopeful.

That is truly tremendous news! This is NOT a state that I expected the CP to qualify for a ballot line this year. This gives me hope for CT!

RE: Maryland
Continue to pray at any time that it comes to mind. I have prayed nearly each day specifically that it is His will that Chuck make the ballot in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Please continue to pray for the rest of the stats left to be decided. All glory to the true, living God!
