NC Constitution Party
Have any of you met the guys/gals who run the NC Constitution Party? I plan on emailing them, but on their site they just have info that Chuck Baldwin is being considered as a candidate, ie. information from weeks ago. Didn't know if anyone here had any info on them. I just found they had a forum, so I'll check that out.

RE: NC Constitution Party
North Carolina is one of the toughest states to get on the ballot. Good luck!

RE: NC Constitution Party
I think it's like the 3rd toughest and I just went on their forum and the Chairman has just stepped down and from the comments I've read, it looks like no one is picking up the reins. I signed up to be a part of the forum, but I have to wait for the admin to approve me. Hope to find out the situation, but it's not looking good from what I saw. I hope I'm wrong.

RE: NC Constitution Party
Thier chairman just stepped down? Hmm.
Well-at any rate--Texas is the hardest. Then Oklahoma. THEN North Carolina.
But yes, NC is hard.

RE: NC Constitution Party
I'm in the NCCP. The chair is stepping down, if no one else steps forward, then the vice chair will assume chairmanship until elections can be held later this year (probably after November's elections). Some have shown interest in the position, but are currently running for office.
Due to NC's tough party laws, NCCP isn't as large as other state parties. NCCP is more active in the western counties where the base of the membership is located.

SwampFox,
Thanks for the insight. I live in Raleigh and my interest in joining the CP is growing daily due to that fact the my once conservative party has lost it's way. Can you tell me a little more about the NCCP.
You can email me privately / directly at donttreadonme@nc.rr.com if you'd rather.
Thanks!

RE: NC Constitution Party
Hello,
I'm Jordon Greene, Caldwell County Director and State Secretary for the Constitution Party of NC. Yes the Chairman is stepping down, and the Vice-Chair will not be taking his position. I am currently working with the Former Chair, and a decision will be reached soon as to this issue.
As to ballot access, as Perdue (Ray) pointed out, NC does have some of the hardest laws in the nation to get on the ballot. We have to obtain just under 70,000 signatures (2% of the total number of registered voters according to North Carolina General Statute 163-96) from registered voters across the state to obtain access to the ballot as a state recognized party, and then be able to maintain 2% of the vote for President or Governor in the subsequent election to keep ballot access. As for now, the Constitution Party will NOT be on the ballot in 2008, but will pick up its petition drive for ballot access for 2012 either immediately or the day after Election day (Nov. 5, 2008) depending on what the NC SBOE says we have to do.
As for Chuck Baldwin being on the ballot. Since the party is not qualified for the ballot, we will be starting our petition drive for Write-In candidacy for Chuck Baldwin hopefully by the end of the week. We must obtain 500 signatures from registered voters across the state to make Baldwin eligible as a Write-In candidate in NC, but this should not be too hard. Yet, we still need to do so as quickly as possible. As for getting the word out for the Baldwin as a Write-In Candidate for President, I have designed a Yard Sign for Baldwin as a Write-In candidate for the Constitution Party of NC to use. Yet, we first need the funding to make them. You can look at the design on the Constitution Party of NC's MySpace Profile at www.MySpace.com/ConstitutionPartyNC. I think it is important for us to have signs that specifically state to Write-In Chuck Baldwin, otherwise people will see the ballot, and see no Baldwin and figure he isn't running in NC if the signs do not specify.
Even though Baldwin is not going to be physically printed on the NC Ballot, I think this could be the year that the Constitution Party wins the White House. Remember that Abraham Lincoln won the White House (Republican Party's first Presidential win) even with his name NOT appearing on 9 of the state ballots, and winning less than 40% of the national popular vote (I cannot remember the exact percentage, I think it might of been 38%). It can be done, and it will be done eventually. I say, lets make 2008 that year!

RE: NC Constitution Party
Wait you can't just write in Chuck Baldwin? He has to be write-in candidate. Wow but hey this is what happens in a two-party dictatorship where choice is only an illusion.
